GigaTera's Light, Designing the Boundary
- This project is a premier smart sports lighting solution in which GigaTera's high-performance MAHA LED floodlight was applied to the Wanju Tennis Court, a major public sports facility in Jeollabuk-do, in 2022, to simultaneously implement a superior playing environment exceeding an average illuminance of 1,000 lux and the eco-friendly value of near-zero light pollution.
As an important community sports space for local enthusiasts and residents, the Wanju Tennis Court was faced with two key challenges: providing a superior playing environment for athletes while ensuring no light-related impact on the adjacent residential and natural environments. In particular, achieving a professional-level high illuminance while perfectly controlling light pollution was a task that required an extremely high level of technology.
To perfectly achieve these two potentially conflicting goals, GigaTera approached it with precision engineering technology. Before the project began, it minimized potential on-site errors and completed the most efficient lighting design through an accurate 3D simulation. Based on this, it applied the full cut-off (asymmetrical) technology of the MAHA 600W, which precisely confines light only within the required court area, to fundamentally block light pollution directed toward the nearby residential areas and the night sky.
After the project's completion, the Wanju Tennis Court was reborn as an ideal sports space that satisfies everyone. The final measured average illuminance of the courts is over 1,000 lux, providing a superior playing environment suitable for hosting professional-level competitions. As is clearly visible in the attached aerial photo, the light does not spill beyond the court boundary lines, yet it uniformly illuminates the interior without shadows, showcasing the most successful result that satisfies both the players and the environment.

- Impact and Value
