GigaTera's Light, Setting a New Standard for Metropolitan Logistics
- This project is a premier smart logistics lighting solution in which GigaTera's high-efficiency SEGA LED bay lighting was applied to the metropolitan area logistics center of Company S, which is responsible for the logistics demands of South Korea's largest consumer market, to maximize work efficiency and accuracy in a high-density storage environment.
The metropolitan area logistics center is like the heart that supports the consumption of a megacity where half of South Korea's population is concentrated, a place where speed and accuracy are synonymous with competitiveness. In particular, the high-rack system, designed to maximize the efficiency of limited space, is a key feature of this center. However, this structure presented a chronic challenge, creating shadows in the narrow and deep aisles between shelves, which obstructed workers' vision, caused picking errors, and increased the risk of safety accidents.
Perfectly analyzing the unique characteristics of this high-density racking environment, GigaTera proposed its SEGA lighting as the optimal solution. GigaTera's SEGA, featuring precision optical technology, does not spread light widely but instead projects a powerful beam vertically and precisely down to the floor of the narrow, deep aisles. This achieves perfect vertical illuminance that allows for the clear identification of barcodes or labels on products located even on the lowest shelf, and provides the safest and most comfortable working environment by not causing glare in the workers' line of sight.
After the project's completion, the logistics center was reborn as a state-of-the-art logistics hub equipped with both high speed and perfect accuracy. The optimal light environment dramatically improved the picking speed and accuracy of the workers, which in turn led to an increase in logistics processing capacity. Furthermore, the significant energy savings are playing a decisive role in greatly reducing the operational costs of the 24-hour facility and elevating Sebang's competitiveness in the fiercely contested metropolitan logistics market to the next level.
