The Gateway to the Republic of Korea, Incheon Bridge
GigaTera's Light, Redrawing the Nights of Korea
- This project is a premier landmark lighting solution where the main pylon facade lighting of Incheon Bridge—the longest bridge in South Korea, the seventh-longest in the world, and the nation's gateway—was completely replaced in 2017 with GigaTera's state-of-the-art RGB LED lighting system, transforming the bridge into a giant media canvas that illuminates the city's night.
As a symbolic structure of the Republic of Korea that guards the route to Incheon International Airport, Incheon Bridge was tasked with enhancing the city's value and providing a new attraction for its citizens through a beautiful and dynamic nighttime landscape befitting its status. The previously installed metal halide lighting was not only limited to monotonous, single-color expression but also incurred significant maintenance costs due to frequent failures and high energy consumption.
To solve this challenge, after a rigorous technical verification process, Incheon Bridge selected GigaTera as its final partner, a company that had proven its superior performance and durability even in the harsh bridge environment with strong sea winds and vibrations. GigaTera provided RGB LED floodlights as the core solution for the 152-meter-high main pylons. This system, through DMX control, can freely produce millions of colors, enabling the display of diverse and dynamic works of light art using the entire pylon as a giant canvas.
Although no specific official feedback from a particular official was distributed for this project, its success is clearly proven by its results. Since the lighting replacement, Incheon Bridge has received a highly positive response from citizens and tourists by presenting 'storytelling lighting' that changes moment by moment according to seasons and special events, such as being dressed in the colors of the national flag on public holidays or in the festive colors of Christmas. This signifies that the project succeeded not just as a simple lighting replacement, but in communicating with the city and providing an emotional experience for its citizens through light.
This is the most powerful example of how GigaTera's innovative technology can strengthen the identity of a major national landmark and elevate a city's nightscape to the next level. It proves that GigaTera is a trusted partner capable of providing the best facade lighting solutions even in the most demanding large-scale infrastructure environments.
