GigaTera's Light, Etching the Club's Identity onto the Night Sky

This project is a premier case study in the implementation of branding lighting, where Borussia-Park, the home stadium of the prestigious Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach, was bathed in the club's iconic colors, reborn as a giant landmark illuminating the city's night through GigaTera's high-performance WAPA series LED facade lighting in 2017.

For Borussia Mönchengladbach, known by the nickname 'Die Fohlen' (The Foals), the color green is more than just a color; it is the heart and identity of the club itself. The club wanted its home stadium, Borussia-Park, to be a symbolic structure that reveals the club's presence from afar, not only during the day but also after sunset. They needed an emotional lighting solution that went beyond simple illumination, one that could instill pride in the fans and imprint the club's identity onto the city's skyline.

To bring this vision to life, GigaTera proposed the WAPA Green 100W LED floodlight as the core solution, replacing the existing 200W metal halide lights, to most vividly and beautifully express the club's iconic color. GigaTera's technical team precisely installed the WAPA lights on the external pillar structures supporting the stadium roof, designing them to uplight the roof's translucent membrane structure. As a result, when night falls, the entire stadium roof glows like a giant green crown, creating a majestic and emotional nighttime spectacle, as if the club's heart is beating beneath the city's night sky.

The successful outcome of the project was clearly validated by an official evaluation from the club's management. Stephan A. C. Schippers, Managing Director of Borussia Mönchengladbach, stated, "The green-glowing stadium roof has now become a new symbol of our home stadium." He added, "This lighting makes our stadium recognizable from a distance and, especially on the night of a home game, it creates a very special atmosphere for the fans. This is an important element that strengthens our club's identity," expressing the highest satisfaction with the result that transformed a simple structure into an emotional landmark that connects with the fans.

This project is the most powerful example of how GigaTera's technology can express the philosophy and identity of a company or club through light, and transform a building into an emotional symbol for the local community and its fans.
