GigaTera's Light Celebrates 125 Years of History and Illuminates the Future
- This project is a premier case study in the implementation of a total entertainment solution, where the entire lighting system at Borussia-Park, the home stadium of the prestigious German Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach with a proud 125-year history, was completely replaced with GigaTera's state-of-the-art LED sports lighting and SFP-RGB RTS™ event lighting, which subsequently led to the successful execution of the club's 125th anniversary celebration in 2025.
As one of Germany's premier football stadiums, Borussia-Park required a complete overhaul of its lighting system to meet the increasingly stringent broadcast lighting standards of the Bundesliga (DFL) and UEFA, and to provide fans with an overwhelmingly immersive experience that goes beyond a simple football match. The old, existing lighting not only had low energy efficiency but was also incapable of producing the dynamic light shows that are central to modern entertainment. To solve this significant challenge, after a rigorous technical verification process against the world's leading companies, Borussia Mönchengladbach selected GigaTera as its final partner, the company that offered the most outstanding performance, reliability, and a perfectly integrated control solution.
For the main competition lighting, GigaTera installed its 'SUFA' series, which perfectly meets the highest-tier (Elite A) standards of UEFA and the Bundesliga, creating a superior lighting environment that guarantees a perfect, flicker-free picture even for 4K/8K UHD broadcasts. In addition to this, it seamlessly integrated a full-spectrum RGBW show lighting system that transforms the stadium into one giant stage. This intelligent sports entertainment system, through DMX control, can now execute limitless scenarios, such as immersing the stadium in the home team's iconic colors, creating a dazzling display of light that erupts like lightning at the moment a goal is scored, or producing spectacular lighting effects for player entrances. And the true value of this innovative system was perfectly proven in 2025, during the historic event celebrating the club's 125th anniversary. GigaTera's lighting was at the heart of the spectacular and moving light show celebrating 125 years of history, delivering an unforgettable experience to the fans who filled the stadium.
The successful outcome of the project was validated by an official evaluation from the club's management. Stephan A. C.
