GigaTera's Technology, Setting a New Standard for Safety and Efficiency
- This project is a premier port safety enhancement project in which the lighting system of the Pendik Container & Ro-Ro Terminal, operated by Europe's largest shipping and logistics company, DFDS, was proactively led by GigaTera's Turkish partner in 2021, resulting in an improved working environment.
As a key hub for DFDS, a leading European logistics company, the Pendik port faced the problem of its overall lighting, especially in the newly introduced RTG (Rubber-Tired Gantry crane) area, being insufficient to meet the safety standards for nighttime operations. The average illuminance of the existing lighting was less than 10 lux, requiring urgent improvement to secure the safety and efficiency of the 24-hour port.
To solve this significant challenge, our local partner, after a precision lighting design analysis, adopted GigaTera's high-output LED lighting, which has been proven for its world-class performance and reliability, as the core solution. The combination of GigaTera's outstanding product performance and the partner's installation expertise created the safest possible nighttime working environment by increasing the average illuminance of the entire port by more than three times, to over 30 lux, the required standard.
The successful outcome of the project was clearly validated by an official evaluation from the port's operational manager. A DFDS port official stated, "We are very satisfied with the results, as the brighter and more uniform lighting secured in the port area has greatly improved the safety of the nighttime working environment." They added, "We are very pleased to have achieved a high level of energy savings as well," expressing high confidence in the results that achieved both key objectives of enhanced safety and increased energy efficiency.
This project is a success story that proves GigaTera's innovative technology was chosen by a leading local expert company, perfectly met the demanding safety standards of Europe's largest logistics company, and earned high customer satisfaction.
