A New Logistics Hub of the Black Sea, IC Karasu Port
GigaTera's Technology, Illuminating the Black Sea Night with a Local Partner
- This project is a premier new port construction project in which the entire lighting system of the IC Karasu Port, an emerging new logistics hub on the Black Sea coast, was integrally constructed with GigaTera's high-performance LED lighting and GeSS® lighting control system through an official GigaTera partner in 2021.
As a new port equipped with the latest facilities, IC Karasu Port aimed for maximum efficiency through 24/7 non-stop operations. However, in the initial stages of the project, the previously installed lighting system faced a serious problem where the average illuminance was less than 10 lux, making it difficult to ensure the safety of nighttime operations. This was a critical factor that hindered not only worker safety but also the operational efficiency of the entire port. To solve this significant problem, our local expert lighting partner adopted GigaTera's high-output LED lighting, which has been proven for its world-class performance and reliability, as the core solution. The combination of the partner's precision lighting design and GigaTera's outstanding product performance produced the dramatic result of increasing the average illuminance of the entire port by five times, to over 50 lux.
The successful outcome of the project was clearly validated by an official evaluation from a port official. An official from IC Karasu Port stated, "The average illuminance, which was previously under 10 lux, has been greatly improved to over 50 lux, and the safety and operational efficiency of the entire port have been noticeably enhanced." They added, "We are very satisfied with the high energy saving rate of 63% and the improved lighting quality," expressing high confidence and satisfaction with the project's results.
