GigaTera Lighting Completes Russia's First Private Airport Project
- This project is a monumental case in which GigaTera's state-of-the-art LED lighting system was successfully installed through a local official partner at the new Novy Urengoy airport terminal complex—the largest aviation hub in Russia's Yamal region and a symbol of airport infrastructure modernization carried out as Russia's first-ever concession project.
Constructed on a scale of approximately 19,600 square meters along with runway reconstruction since 2019, the new Novy Urengoy airport is more than just a transportation facility; it is a concentration of architectural technology that overcomes the harsh environment of Russia's Far North. The core of this state-of-the-art airport is a flawless operational system that ensures the safety of aircraft and passengers 24/7, and among its components, the apron lighting, responsible for nighttime visibility, is the most fundamental and essential element of safety.
AMIRA, selected as the lighting partner for the project, perfectly understood the unique characteristics of the Far North region and adopted GigaTera's MAHA series floodlights (400W, 600W), which guarantee absolute reliability even in the most severe environments, as the core solution. Installed on 10 high-mast poles with mobile crowns, GigaTera's lighting was specially designed and manufactured to deliver top performance even in the extreme climatic conditions of Siberia. Through this, it provided powerful and uniform light across the entire airport apron, elevating the safety and efficiency of nighttime operations to the highest level.
This project holds deep significance in that the exterior lighting of a symbolic structure—Russia's first private airport—was completed with GigaTera's technology. While passengers comfortably board their flights through warm jet bridges and bus gates, GigaTera's light flawlessly protects the safety of all aircraft and ground personnel moving on the apron outside.
