A New Standard for MLB Dome Stadiums
GigaTera Lighting that Dominates Both the Game and the Show
- This project is a premier installation case study of the complete upgrade of the existing lighting system at Tropicana Field—an iconic dome stadium and the home of the Major League Baseball (MLB) American League powerhouse, the Tampa Bay Rays—with GigaTera's state-of-the-art SUFA series LED solution.
To provide fans with a completely new level of 'ballpark experience,' the Tampa Bay Rays required a dynamic lighting system that could perfectly combine the game and entertainment, not just one that simply illuminates the field. Based on its technology proven in numerous MLB stadiums, GigaTera was selected as the optimal partner to realize the club's vision.
Through the SUFA series main competition lighting, GigaTera achieved shadow-free, uniform illuminance and perfect flicker-free broadcast quality across the entire field. Simultaneously, GigaTera transformed Tropicana Field into a giant canvas by also installing a DMX-controlled, full-color RGBW LED lighting system. This enables the production of spectacular and dynamic light shows that immerse the stadium's roof and the entire field in the team's iconic colors or a variety of other hues during home runs, victories, or special events, providing fans with unforgettable excitement and entertainment.
