The Best Professional Sports Lighting
- This project is a premier installation case study of the complete upgrade of the existing 1600W metal halide lighting system at Busch Stadium, the home of the prestigious Major League Baseball (MLB) club, the St. Louis Cardinals, with GigaTera's state-of-the-art SUFA series LED solution in 2016.
Through a close partnership with PlanLED, GigaTera brought to reality the club's vision to make Busch Stadium "the best outdoor lighting facility in professional sports." Through precision simulations, GigaTera's engineering team achieved perfect color rendering (High CRI) reaching a level of 90% of natural daylight, and minimized shadows and glare across the entire field to provide a superior visual experience for both players and spectators.
Joe Abernathy, Vice President of Facility Planning and Engineering for the St. Louis Cardinals, stated, "The new system will dramatically improve the quality of TV broadcasts," expressing high expectations especially for the flicker-free, clear picture and perfect image quality in super slow-motion replays. Additionally, the instantaneous on/off control at the flip of a switch added tremendous flexibility for pre- and post-game entertainment productions.
