Reborn with the Light of GigaTera
- This project is a premier installation case study of the complete replacement of the existing metal halide lighting at Gocheok Sky Dome—the first dome stadium in South Korea and the home of the KBO League's Kiwoom Heroes—with GigaTera's state-of-the-art SUFA series LED system in 2020.
GigaTera, deeply understanding the symbolic status of the nation's only dome stadium and its importance as a multi-purpose cultural venue, took on the challenge of simultaneously achieving two goals: creating a perfect, MLB-level competitive environment and delivering spectacular entertainment productions. Through precision simulations, GigaTera's engineering team designed a customized solution that completely resolved the chronic issues of shadows and uneven illuminance that plagued the previous lighting system.
Through the outstanding optical performance of the SUFA series, GigaTera established a superior competitive environment that far exceeds the stringent illuminance standards required by the WBSC and KBO. Simultaneously, with RGB color lighting installed on the ceiling structure and a DMX control system, it enabled the production of dynamic light shows during scoring moments or events, transforming the venue from a simple ballpark into a 'sports entertainment space' that offers fans an unforgettable experience.
