An Innovation of Light for Players, Fans, and Broadcasts Alike

This project is a premier installation case study of the complete upgrade of the existing 1000W metal halide lighting at the Moda Center, the home stadium of the prestigious NBA (National Basketball Association) club, the Portland Trail Blazers, with GigaTera's state-of-the-art SUFA series LED system in 2016.

The top priority of this project went beyond simple energy savings to focus on 'Player Experience Enhancement,' elevating the performance and condition of the athletes to the highest level. Through a close partnership with PlanLED, GigaTera provided an innovative solution that was so transformative that coaches, broadcast personnel, and arena operators unanimously praised it for having "changed the visual experience of the building from 'Standard Definition' to 'High Definition.'"

Through precision optical design, GigaTera completely eliminated shadows on the court and elevated the entire visual experience of the arena to the highest level by applying an excellent Color Rendering Index of over CRI 90 and flicker-free technology.

As a result, the players showed a very high level of satisfaction with the new lighting environment, stating that it "positively impacts the game atmosphere and performance." Furthermore, the seamless integration with a DMX control system maximized the venue's value as a multi-purpose cultural space by enabling spectacular and dynamic light shows linked to pre-game player introductions and halftime shows, providing fans with an unforgettable entertainment experience.
