The Heart of the NHL,
Awakened by GigaTera's New Light
- This project is a premier installation case study of the complete upgrade of the lighting system at the SAP Center (nicknamed the "Shark Tank"), the home stadium of the prestigious NHL (North American Ice Hockey League) club, the San Jose Sharks, with GigaTera's state-of-the-art SUFA series LED solution.
Having confirmed GigaTera's technological prowess through previous successful projects like the Pepsi Center, the SAP Center chose a partnership with PlanLED to revolutionize the arena's visual experience. The project's goal was clear: to go beyond replacing old lighting and to change everything in the arena from 'standard definition (SD)' to 'high definition (HD).'
Through its SUFA series, GigaTera achieved an innovative energy saving of over 60% compared to the existing metal halide lighting, while also implementing flicker-free performance and an overwhelming Color Rendering Index (High CRI) that perfectly meet NHL broadcast standards.
The results were met with immediate praise. Coaches, broadcast personnel, and arena operators commented that "the building has been completely refreshed with a brand new look," and even the players showed a high level of satisfaction, requesting that "the practice facility also be given the same daylight-like environment as the arena."
The SAP Center project is a success story that proves how GigaTera's technology can improve the competitive environment and elevate the experience for players, spectators, and broadcasters to the next level.
