The Heart of North American Pro Sports,

Completely Changing its Light

This project is a premier installation case study of the complete replacement of the existing lighting system at the Pepsi Center (now Ball Arena)—the home of the NBA's Denver Nuggets and the NHL's Colorado Avalanche, and an iconic venue for North American sports and entertainment—with GigaTera's state-of-the-art LED solution.

Through a successful collaboration with its U.S. lighting solutions partner, PlanLED, GigaTera perfectly achieved the core objective of this historic project. The goal was to go beyond simply saving energy and to elevate the entire visual experience of the arena from 'standard definition (SD)' to 'high definition (HD)' levels.

While replacing 264 existing metal halide lights with 312 high-efficiency LED lights, GigaTera achieved an innovative energy saving of 80%. Simultaneously, it delivered an unprecedented level of light quality for its time—with a CRI of over 93 and an R9 (red rendering) of over 50—providing a superior, shadow-free competitive environment for the players, a perfect flicker-free broadcast picture for the networks, and a vivid, immersive experience for the spectators.

This successful project earned the Pepsi Center the high praise of being "the best lit Arena in the world," and it became a symbolic milestone proving that GigaTera's technology had set a new standard in the professional sports lighting market.
