The Whisper of Lotuses under the Moonlight, Protected by a Gentle Light

GigaTera's Light, Achieving a Perfect Harmony Between Nature and People

This project is a premier eco-friendly landscape lighting solution in which GigaTera's high-performance MAHA LED floodlight was applied to the Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond Lotus Garden in Gyeongju, one of South Korea's premier nightscape destinations, to respect the fantastic beauty of the lotuses at night and to provide visitors with the most comfortable and safe viewing environment.

The Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond Lotus Garden, where blooming lotuses create a fantastic landscape under the thousand-year moonlit nights of Silla, is a special place beloved by countless tourists and citizens. The biggest challenge for this nature-friendly space was that the artificial lighting had to secure the safety of visitors walking at night and assist with comfortable viewing, all without harming the beauty of nature.

To solve this delicate challenge, GigaTera proposed its 'MAHA' lighting, which incorporates 'technology that respects nature,' as the solution. The key technology of the 'MAHA,' its full cut-off design, fundamentally blocks light from being directed toward the sky, thereby fully preserving Gyeongju's night sky, where moonlight and starlight blend. At the same time, its wide distribution and excellent uniformity fill the entire walkway and plaza with a soft, uniform, glare-free light, helping visitors to focus solely on the beauty of the lotuses without worrying about their safety underfoot.

After the project's completion, the Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond Lotus Garden was reborn as a perfect resting place where the vitality of day and the romance of night coexist. The comfortable light produced by MAHA further enhances the appearance of the lotuses and provides visitors with an unforgettable memory. This is the most successful case of showing how the technology of light can respect the beauty of nature and coexist harmoniously with people.
