- This project is a premier world-class sports lighting solution in which the center court lighting at the 'La Quinta Resort & Club,' a top-tier resort in California, USA, that hosts the 'BNP Paribas Open,' one of the world's top five tennis tournaments, was completely replaced with GigaTera's state-of-the-art SUFA series LED sports lighting, earning the high praise of 'the best lighting I have ever seen' from a tennis legend.
As a Waldorf Astoria resort and the host of the 'BNP Paribas Open' where the world's top tennis stars gather every year, La Quinta Resort had to be equipped with the finest facilities befitting its reputation. However, the existing 1000W class metal halide lighting could not meet modern high-definition (HDTV) broadcast standards and had limitations in providing a superior viewing experience for spectators and preventing glare for the players. This was a critically important challenge directly linked to the prestige of the tournament.
To meet these world-class requirements, the tournament's organizing committee chose GigaTera as its final partner. GigaTera provided a solution that replaced the existing 1000W metal halide lamps with 570W high-efficiency MAHA LED lighting. This was a highly advanced engineering project that went beyond simply illuminating the court to satisfy players, spectators, and TV viewers around the world.
The project's overwhelming success was most clearly validated by the praise from Chris Evert, a living legend of the tennis world and an ESPN commentator. After experiencing the new lighting, she offered historic high praise, saying, "The lighting is the best I've ever seen." The tournament director also commented that it was "fantastic lighting for both the players and the TV broadcast." In fact, after the lighting replacement, the court perfectly met HDTV broadcast standards, and power consumption was significantly reduced by over 40%, marking it as a legendary success story that completed the world's premier stage with the most perfect light.
